First aerospace company in Puerto Rico doubles its corporate donations to promote improvement in education, health, sports and economic development areas. The company already has 432 professional employees and announces that it is currently recruiting employees in engineering and information systems.
Isabela, Puerto Rico – February 8, 2007 –Infotech Aerospace Services, Inc. (IAS), a Pratt & Whitney joint venture located in Isabela, donated $80,000 to 14 not-for-profit entities, as part of the company’s corporate donations program. The entities selected provide highly positive community services that impact education, health, economic development and sports areas with programs that benefit thousands of kids, youngsters, adults and elderly people in Western Puerto Rico and all over the Island.
“At Infotech Aerospace Services, Inc. we are committed to making a contribution to the quality of life of needed people from the communities in which we live and work,” said Rita Peralta President and General Manager of the aerospace company located in Isabela.
“This year we have chosen 14 entities that are making an extraordinary contribution to the improvement of quality of life in Puerto Rico; in education, health, sports and economic development areas, through programs that benefit thousands of kids, youngsters, adults and elderly people, mainly from Western Puerto Rico,” added Peralta. “We are proud to help the 14 entities selected to continue providing excellent services for the benefit of the western region and Puerto Rico,” explained Peralta.
The donations were given to not-for-profit entities that in most cases provide services in the western area of Puerto Rico, where IAS facilities are located. IAS is the first aerospace company in Puerto Rico. The entities that received donations this year are: Estancia Corazón, American Cancer Society, Hogar Infantil Jesús Nazareno, Centro de Adultos y Niños con Impedimentos (CANNI), Centro ESCAPE, Fundación Síndrome Down, Pequeñas Ligas “José Papi Vega”, Liga de Baloncesto Isabelina, Centro de Envejecientes de Isabela, Vivero de Tecnología y Ciencia (VITEC 2), Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
The company’s corporate donations program has been held during three consecutive years. The first year the company donated to three entities. This year, a total of 14 entities received donations, which totaled $80,000. This amount doubles the donations made last year, thus demonstrating IAS commitment to the Island and the company’s corporate social responsibility.
“At Infotech Aerospace Services, Inc. we are very grateful of Puerto Rico. We are committed to continue making a contribution to the economic and social development of the Island,” said Peralta. “We have had solid growth, which is proven by the consistent increase in employees in our operations in Isabela. When we had our first corporate donations event in January 2005, we had 100 employees; when this same event was held in February of last year, we had increased to 300 employees; currently we already have 432 professional employees, that we are very proud of,” added Peralta.
Infotech Aerospace Services, Inc. (IAS) is dedicated to the design of specialized programming for commercial and military aircraft, including the development of aerospace engineering work, such as: computer programming analysis, mechanical design and drafting, structural analysis and heat transfer. IAS is a joint venture with Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) and leading company in the global aerospace industry. The company is located at the Mora Guerrero Industrial Park in Isabela and currently has 432 employees, most of them engineers and information systems specialists.
